Background information: Cardiovascular SystemThe Cardiovascular System plays a major role in the body of all animals, consisting of the blood, the heart, and blood vessels. Along with the transfer of blood throughout the body, the cardiovascular system transfers proteins, amino acids, and electrolytes. The cardiovascular system also transfers oxygen, carbon dioxide and hormones. These materials are transferred through many types of channels, examples of these are called, veins, capillaries, and arteries. Arteries carry blood away from the heart, veins carry blood towards the heart, and capillaries make up the microcirculation of the body. Together, these elements of the cardiovascular system allow the body to thrive and survive
